MUSIC OF THE STARS
- Friday, July 24, 2026, 21:00
- Paros Park Theater Ai-Yiannis Detis
The Festival at the Park 2026 welcomes Friday, July 24, 2026 at the Ai-Yiannis Detis Park Theater one of the most important contemporary European musicians, Markus Stockhausen, in a unique concert dedicated to the mystery, poetry, and music of the starry sky.
Entitled “Music of the Stars,” the performance is a unique musical journey through the universe, where the sounds of Markus Stockhausen’s trumpet and flugelhorn meet the clarinets of Tara Bouman and the guitar of Vasilis Rakopoulos. Beneath “the thousand eyes of the night,” the three musicians create soundscapes inspired by the constellations, the harmony of the celestial bodies, and the drama of Greek mythology.
The concert is rooted in the tradition of intuitive music, a musical approach introduced by Karlheinz Stockhausen that emphasizes creative freedom, improvisation and the profound interaction between performers. Each performance becomes a unique event, as compositions are constantly transformed through the musicians' live communication and their relationship with the space and the moment.
With an international career spanning classical music, contemporary composition, jazz and free improvisation, Markus Stockhausen is widely regarded as one of the most distinctive figures of the European music scene. In Music of the Stars, he combines lyricism, experimentation and the spiritual dimension of music in an experience that transcends the boundaries of a conventional concert.
The performance takes place within the unique natural setting of the Paros Environmental & Cultural Park, on the protected peninsula of Ai-Yiannis Detis. Beneath the summer sky of the Aegean and far from the lights of the city, the landscape becomes the ideal stage for a musical experience that turns our gaze towards the stars and the imagination.
